A Typical Ceilidh
A Typical Ceilidh
Cath deals with all the bookings and communications taking notes of customers’ individual requirements. We’ll do anything within reason to give you the party you want. Here’s how a typical ceilidh would go:
We set up our equipment an hour before the ceilidh, usually having checked out the venue beforehand.Sometimes we are asked to play tunes or put on customers’ music through our PA as guests arrive.
The caller then invites dancers on to the floor and explains the moves and walks them through the dance. None of the dances are complicated and are deliberately chosen to be dancer-friendly with the minimum of instructions. Our aim is for everyone to enjoy the music and dance the night away. The caller will continue to call until the dancers know what to do.
We can play tunes in between dances if necessary to enable the dancers to get their breath back! Usually there will be a break for refreshments/supper during which we will put on some suitable music if required.
Often people want to address the guests at some point in the evening – we have a microphone available for this, just let us know.
We often start the second half with a tune to get people in the mood, then continue with more great dances and we hope the evening will end with everyone on the oor for the final dance.
